This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant, a celebrated cultural event within the Canadian Chinese community since its debut in 1994. Over the past three decades, Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant has become a prominent platform that fosters exceptional women, allowing them to showcase their beauty, intelligence, and talents, while bridging cultural exchange and community unity. This year’s theme, “Shining Brilliance, Dreams Come True,” highlights each contestant’s journey of growth and transformation, symbolizing the process through which pearls develop their unique shine. The contestants courageously pursue their dreams, maturing and radiating their distinct glow through time and experience.
The 1st Press Conference recently took place, hosted by the engaging Mandy Chan. The event was broadcast live on Fairchild Television and MCVP Facebook page, allowing a worldwide audience to witness the charm and inspiring energy of the contestants. Dressed elegantly in pink, the eight contestants made their media debut, showcasing grace, confidence, and charisma in their self-introductions. No.1 Shania Fu who loves singing and dancing, aiming to spread her positivity and energy to others. No.2 Claudia Lam balances strength with a soft side and hopes to discover her inner beauty and push her boundaries. A long-time fan of the pageant, No.3 Jennifer Huang, is fulfilling her dream of gracing the stage. The youngest, No.4 Marina Yu, excels across business, science, and art. No.5 Olivia Zou, skilled in Chinese dance and holding dual degrees in economics and psychology, aspires to spread love throughout the community. No.6 Hilary Chen is an entrepreneur and wants to pursue her acting dream. No.7 Justine Ming, an artist at heart, believes each life stage has made her stronger and more confident. Finally, No.8 Jasper Tiffany Chan has a passion for the stage and recently showcased her musical talent in Sunshine Nation 2024. These eight remarkable young women are ready to embrace the challenges in the upcoming final round, promising an unforgettable show for the audience.
The Grand Final will be held on November 28 at the River Rock Show Theatre and will air on FTV1 on December 1 at 9 p.m. Phil Lam, a talented BC-born singer-songwriter, will be the Special Guest Performer. After winning the “New Talent Singing Awards Vancouver Audition 2007”, Phil represented Vancouver in the “International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship,” where he placed 2nd Runner-Up and beginning his music career. His hit song “Mountains and Valleys” became a chart-topping sensation in 2014, winning awards like “Metro Radio Hits Music Awards,”, “Top 10 Professional Picks at the Ultimate Song Chart Awards” and the “The Jade Solid Gold Awards”. Phil has also composed numerous beloved songs for various music icons, earning him the title of “Hong Kong Singer-Songwriter Prince”. As a gifted musician cultivated by Fairchild Television, Phil’s deep-rooted connection to Vancouver adds significance to his achievements. Returning to grace the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant's 30th Anniversary Grand Final, Phil is sure to bring a brilliant shine to the stage with his exceptional performance.
This year’s esteemed panel of judges includes retired Soprano, Ms. Jessica Yan Macintosh, Richmond Hospital Infectious Disease Consultant Physician and UBC Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. Clement Kwok, Miss Chinese Vancouver 2015 and Miss Chinese International 2016 Champion Ms. Jennifer Coosemans, renowned Composer Dr. Steve Ho, and Pilates & fitness instructor Ms. Min-Hui You (Ann). They will choose the Champion and other award winners, with five special awards alongside the Champion, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-Up titles: the “Beauty Court Glowing Attraction Award”, “Lukfook Jewellery Miss Photogenic”, “Brian Jessel BMW Outstanding Intelligence Award”, “Imperial Bird’s Nest AI Infinite Radiance Award” and “Royal Jubilee Cordial Beauty Award”.
The “Lukfook Jewellery Photo Contest” will be held on November 2 at Aberdeen Centre, offering the winner an $800 prize and a chance to have their photos publicly displayed. The “Lukfook Miss Photogenic” title will be awarded based on global audience votes, now open on MCVP website until November 24. Voters have a chance to win an 18K gold diamond bracelet by Lukfook Jewellery. Between November 15 and 28, audience can also participate in the “Beauty Court Who is the Champion Guessing Game” on MCVP website, choosing their favorite contestant for a chance to win prizes.
